Universal Periodic Review – UPR

The Universal Periodic Review (UPR) is a unique process which involves a review of the human rights records of all 193 UN Member States once every five years.  It provides an opportunity for all States to declare what actions they have taken to improve the human rights situations in their countries and to overcome challenges to the enjoyment of human rights.

The Association takes part to UPR because it’s a very efficient instrument to carry on the action of removing the causes of injustice. Through the universal periodic review the Association has the opportunity to be the voice of the voiceless with the esperience of sharing life directly with the poor that is the core of its specific charism and to improve the developement of the human rights situation.

The Association monitores the UPR process concerning the countries where the members of the Association are present. The Geneva office produce UPR NGO’s reports in collaboration with its members in the country under review, lobbies with the others memeber states on our raccomandations and makes oral statements during the adoption of the state report at the human rights council.
